Kohler Co. - DeSoto (SCDC)

Facility info

Operations Drop and hook: Quick turnarounds, typically 15 minutes or less. Straightforward process when picking up empties and loaded trailers. Live load: Major issue. Expect 6-8+ hour waits minimum. Appointments appear meaningless for live load operations. Multiple drivers report arriving on time but waiting extended hours with minimal progress. Loading doesn't start until driver arrival. Not recommended for live load work. Pickup procedures: Verify trailer status before arrival—confusion exists between warehouse and yard staff about whether trailers are loaded or empty. Call ahead to confirm. Check-in: Fast at gate (under 2 minutes reported), friendly guards. Facility Experience Overnight parking: Not available or very limited. One driver noted "no overnight parking." Bathroom/amenities: Bathrooms available with basic kitchen items. Staff attitude: Generally friendly and courteous at gate and guard shack. Shipping office staff reported as dismissive during wait times—"you have to wait, we're busy." Inconsistent communication between yard and warehouse crews on parking/staging instructions. Yard conditions: Spacious, sometimes cluttered with trailers. Mixed reports on organization. New facilities in good condition overall. Load-specific notes Loads may shift—use straps and take photos. No seals provided on some loads.
