ROUTING Only two legal routes: I-64 East to US-29 South to VA-130 West to US-501 South, OR US-460/VA-122 from I-81 South. DO NOT use US-501 North, US-501 from I-81 directly, or Google Maps default routing — heavy fines ($300-$700), restricted for 53' trailers, dangerous curves near river. GPS units may not recognize current road conditions. Cell service spotty (AT&T particularly unreliable). WAIT TIMES & OPERATIONS Expect 2-8+ hours unloading. Many reports of 5+ hour waits despite on-time appointments. Only 2-3 functional docks. Drop and hook typically faster (30 min to 1.5 hrs). Live loads much slower. Appointment confirmation critical — showing up early won't get you in early; staff will make you wait. CHECK-IN & PROCEDURES Check first guard shack, proceed to scale house for staging/directions. If unloading rolls, docks are Northwest corner of building. If unloading bales, further back by chip dump. Staff attitude mixed — some helpful and professional, others dismissive and slow. Paperwork delays reported. FACILITY Overnight parking available (24 hrs if low on hours). Scale on-site. Bathrooms at scale house — porta-potties only, quality varies. Staging area if you arrive outside appointment window. Facility isolated, nothing nearby. REAL TALK This is a high-risk load. Route complexity, long waits, and tight docks create significant time and legal exposure. Multiple drivers report this costs more time than the pay justifies.
Driver reviews
There is nothing good about this place. Even getting here is a hassle. I waited 4 hours just to get a dock and as you can see, the docks are built on a hill. Whose brilliant idea was that?

I wouldn’t recommend coming here, but if you have to, make sure to bring food and a safety vest because you’ll probably be waiting for a long time
Route sucks been here for over 6 hours
They built this facility in the middle of nowhere, making it difficult to get in and out.

Docks 1 and 2 are especially challenging for loading—I don’t understand what they were thinking when they designed them.

However, once you’re backed into the dock, the loading process is fast.
I picked up from there on 05/24/2026
Truckers disregard those big paragraphs others wrote about the route
Just follow your truck gps, don’t listen to none of these bullshit comments,I repeat do not listen to drivers comments that said do not take route 501.
Very long wait time 👎👎👎👎
