National Beef Dodge City
2000 E Trail St, Dodge City, KS 67801
Facility info
Wait times: Highly inconsistent. Reports range from 1-2 hours to 34+ hours on drop and hook. Most complaints center on 12-26 hour waits. Some loads ready early; many arrive well past drop dead time. Plan for significant delay. Drop and hook operation: Standard procedure—drop trailer at facility, bobtail to nearby truck stops (Love's across street, Pilot ~1 mile away), wait for call when loaded. Guard shack staff sometimes don't call when promised; drivers report calling back to discover load ready hours earlier. Appointment scheduling: Appointment window means little—loads regularly ready hours or days after scheduled pickup window closes. Recommend arriving 30-45 minutes early. Outbound paperwork takes 3-5 hours after load completion. Trailer condition inspection: Very strict. Final inspection happens after you drop trailer. Any cracks, dents, chips, or scratches may result in rejection. Trailers must be in near-perfect condition or you'll be stranded waiting for repairs (mechanics closed weekends; road calls $800+). Fuel tank must be 3/4 full or higher. Reefer temperature must be set to 28°. Washout: $57 cash only (no change given). On-site. Some drivers report it's unnecessary—National Beef washes trailers regardless and charges you anyway. Parking/facilities: Overnight parking available outside security office. Bobtail parking in front is limited. Yard is dirt lot—dusty, bumpy, tight spacing between trailers. No spot numbers; finding your trailer among dozens can be time-consuming. Recent improvements reported to lot condition and trailer organization. Staff: Guard shack generally described as friendly and professional, though some report rudeness. Yard personnel helpful. Shipping department staff decent. One person reported excellent help from yard jockey pulling trailer. Check-in: Fast and straightforward at guard shack. Bring purchase order/pickup number. Other: Scale located across street at Love's. Facility is live load/drop and hook operation. Load readiness varies significantly by day/season (USDA processing affects timeline). Website available to track load status and request callback. Facility compared unfavorably to Liberal, Kansas location.
Driver reviews
Check-in staff here are very respectful, kind, and genuinely pleasant to work with. Thank you to the team for such a professional attitude and great treatment. Drivers, important heads-up: it’s honestly better to arrive with a dirty trailer, because this facility will most likely wash it again no matter how clean it already is, and that will cost you $60. Also, make sure your reefer fuel tank is at least 3/4 full — not even a gallon less.
Took 2 days to load me, use the info in the photo to check on load status, don't expect them to call you call them to check if your load is ready. Also have funds ready to pay for washout when checking out, won't get paperwork without it.
I do not recommend coming here. I arrived here for a pickup and dropped off my trailer. I waited a day and a half for it.
Okay..... I never felt disrespected until 03-28-2026.... I am truly "
Need to work on more efficient departures at the gate for trucks ready to roll. No instruction on how to approach outbound gate leads to drivers bullying ahead of others from different directions. Im currently 3rd in line to get out the gate but I have been waiting to get out over 45 minutes now. Totally unsatisfactory
